Back To School With Tampico

It was July 11th, 2016 and I had just hit 36 weeks with Arie and Layla in my belly. My pregnancy was incredibly dangerous because identical twins share a placenta. I was at the OB once a week for observation to be sure that they were growing and doing well. I remember getting to the hospital that day and feeling so scared to have a C-section, but also so thrilled to meet the two girls who had been in my belly for what felt like an eternity. The twins ended up being 30 seconds apart in time and I’m sure Arie will hold it over Layla’s head that she is older than her as they get older. What a special moment to hold those two beautiful babies in my arms. I was 50% terrified and 50% excited to get our lives started. If you asked me about the first year together I would say that it was literally a blur. I have no idea how we got through it, but we did. Fast forward to now and they are three years old. They are about to start preschool. My mind is blown just thinking about that day at the hospital and how they have grown up and will be going to school. Do you have a kid starting school this year too?

As if that is not enough, Kaila is going into first grade this year. She will be in the Bright Starts program just like in Kindergarten. This means more homework and more challenges which she is completely ready for and I could not be more proud of her. Just this year alone she has grown so much. I have watched her as she made new friends, learned to read, and gained her independence. I have also watched her grow as big sister. Arie and Layla have learned so much from her. She teaches them to use their imaginations, to have manners, and most recently has helped them learn how to potty train. I am so excited to see her grow this year in first grade.

Since they are all going to school this year, we decided to make our own supply boxes. We thought it would be fun to let the girls choose how to decorate their boxes based on what they liked and to show off their personalities. We headed to our local Target and grabbed our favorite decorating supplies. 

Supplies:

• Plastic Food Storage Containers
• Elmer’s Glue
• Stickers
• Construction Paper
• Rainbow Pom Poms

How we made them:

1. Place stickers in desired areas of your box. 
2. Cut out construction paper into a square to place letter stickers on there for your name.
3. Use glue to add dots and then place pom poms down on each dot.
4. Let dry.
5. Bring it with you to school and keep your supplies in it.

We had so much fun creating these supply boxes, but we got really thirsty so we needed to have a refreshing drink of Tampico. Our flavor of choice for the month of August is Mango Punch. It was the perfect drink to keep us cool because today was a very hot day in Tucson. Our temperatures were once again in the 100’s. We are planning to go swimming today when it cools down and we will definitely be bringing our Mango Punch with us to the pool. With only 30 calories, this is refreshing and delicious. We added some new pages to our summer scrapbook, made our own school supply boxes and got to try a new flavor of Tampico. How do you get your kids excited about going back to school?
